Help with Vacuum Lines....Pics Included....
1985 4Runner, 22RE w/ manual transmission
I have a few vacuum lines that I can't figure out where they go. I have looked at numerous threads and pictures to try to find the answer but for som reason every one seems to be differerent. I even checked the diagrams on yotatech as well as pirate 4x4 and this is as far as they got me. I labeled the pictures so that way they would be easier to reference in any responses. Thanks for the help.

That link helps but I still dont understand why hoses are different on just about every truck I look at. I actually have the powepoint from the above link printed off and I decided not to go with it because of the differences from other pictures I have. I guess I'll give it a shot this weekend though and let everyone know how it goes.

Emissions (49- vs. 50-state) and optional equipment (power steering, A/C) and 2WD/4WD are all different. I've removed a few items from mine (no power steering idle-up and eliminated the FPR-VSV), so that expalins a few differences in my pictures.

No underhood sticker. Even if there was one, its an 84 body on an 85 chassis and the 84 had no fuel injection.

Alright. I ran my hoses according to 4Crawlers diagram (thanks 4Crawler) but I still have vacuum lines 2 & 3 open (refer to diagram above) because I still have the P/S idle control unlike 4Crawler.
Can I just block these two off and everything will be OK?

I think I can help you. I have an '85 4Runner and it is all together.
1-this goes to the vent hole on top of the valve cover (behind the oil cap).
2-this goes to the pressure switch on the power steering pump (round piece with 2 outlets and is screwed into the pump)
3-this goes to the throttle body (in your 2nd picture, 1st thread) it is on top of the throttle body where your bigger diameter hose is hooked to (closest to the intake hose).
4-this goes directly behind the brake booster vaccum hose on the upper intake. It is a small round piece, it plugs in there.
5-goes to your fuel pressure regulator.
I'm positive that's where everything goes. I did a headgasket on mine earlier this year, then I wound up pulling the motor and now it runs great! I labeled everything and took a ton of pictures.

I had no under hood diagram on mine, but all the connections are in the FSM (just not all in one place). The lines are actually quite logically laid out if you learn what each one does, then what they hook to is obvious.
