Halp!!!
ok i have had this clunking noise for awhile now, it clunks whenever i turn the wheel sharply or swerve. i took it to a shop and they said wheel bearings and so did you guys when i asked. here is the thread where i rebuilt the front end with all new wheel bearings and the knuckle rebuild kit form marlin, http://www.yotatech.com/f115/help-me...elated-149189/ . so the bad news is i still have the clunk and the whole rebuild did nothing to help me out except now my knuckles dont leak
. here are my suspisions(sp) two piece driveline carrier bearing. seems worn but i have nothing to compare it to because ive never had one before. worn out draglink it has a bit of play in it. other loose steering parts?? will check loose driveline parts?? will check ?? Please HALP!!! ![]()

Isolate where the noise is coming from. Try duplicating it while standing still or moving slowly. Then try to pinpoint the source from outside and then once you know where it is coming from, should be straight forward to fix. Assuming bearings were done properly (were any of the old ones worn out?) check spring and shackle bushings, torque rod, drag link, make sure steering box is tight, etc.

thats the thing you have to be moving at about 15 miles per hour to make the noise and i can make the noise on demand it doenst come and go.
also the old bearings seemed to be ok no marks like ive seen on other peoples trucks. excuse my noobieness but what is the torque rod?

Torque rod:
![]() Runs off the axle to the frame, ~parallel to the steering drag link. One option, put the front of the frame on jack stands and lower the axle down so no load on it. Then feel for looseness in any of the bushings, steering, etc.

should the front axle shafts be able to move in and out a bit because me and my brother just went out there to check it out and we shook the front end of the truck and it almost sounded like it was comeing from inside the axle houseing right at the diff.i couldnt stay under there long to listen because the pavement was super hot. i will go out later when the sun is off it.

They can move a little, but you need the inner clip inside the birfield or a martack on the end of the shaft plus the c-clip:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...eRebuild.shtml Also, there are the bronze bushings inside the spindle that support the stub axle of the birf. If badly worn, that can let the birf. flop around.

well i never separated the birfield when i did the rebuild so it should be fine right? the bronze bushings seemed fine it didnt move around inside the spindle much at all.
