Are exhaust manifolds interchangeable from early 22r to late 22r
I have searched but am finding conflicting responses.
I recently started a thread on this but upon rereading it and receiving no response, I think I worded it incorrectly.
I recently found out my header isn't smog legal in California. The truck is an 84 with round ex. ports. I have a spare 85 manifold I can throw on it for smog purposes but want to know if it's compatible with the 84 head before I pull it off the 85 engine.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the late model but I can tell you 85 and down has only one center bolt on the bottom center of the manifold to hold it on. It was the same style as my 80 20r.

Answered my own question
Sooooo....upon further investigation, I found that they are not totally compatible.
Even if I drilled out a center hole (and with my luck it'd probably break) the air tube ports are different. Found this little gem at the pick n pull for $37 bucks. Trucks odometer read 134xxx something so hopefully I'll get a few miles on it before it cracks like a few I've had in the past.
Thanks for the replies. All imput helps.
