Well I finally got my injector problem fixed.

I have another problem that I need help with. This is a newley rebuilt engine. it is firing ok but to get it to start I have to hold the throttle wide open and it is missing real bad. My firing order is 1-3-4-2. I set the valves at .007/.009 and set my timing at 5 deg btdc. Checked all of the plugs and am getting good spark to all. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
James:

Is the timing chain set correctly? Is there good fuel pressure at the manifold?

Hi jhksclemm, I'm having what I think might be the same fuel injector problem you had. After putting on a new head gasket on my 85 4runner and putting everything back together the injectors aren't getting a pulse. A friend and I have traced and tested every wire, ground, fuse, relay and sensor, and tried everything we can think of, but everything seems to be up to spec according to the factory service manual. Just curious what you did to get yours working? Thanks.

Hi guys, I have what sounds like the exact same issue with my 85 22re, also a newer motor!!! just like yours! I have replaced the injectors after replacing all the obvious stuff like plugs wires filters etc... But still have a miss, even after injectors. My miss is very noticeable, but doesn't sound quite as bad as yours. It will idle, but VERY poorly! I want to pull the valve cover this weekend and make dead sure that the motor is timed and ignition is timed.
Have you done that?
I feel stupid saying this; but are there any timing marks on the cam, chain or distributor shaft that I could use as a reference. The manual just doesnt cut it!! hahaha.
After I replaced the injectors and had no improvements; I began to wonder if the injector wires are on the wrong injectors! Maybe that is our problem. Do you know how to check them?

HI, I was wondering why you set the valves to .007/.009? On my underhood label 1985 22re it says .008/.012. I just set them there yesterday and now it runs great. It is now stable at 750rpm idle where I used to have to set it to 950rpm.

Thanks
