22r into a 72 hillux vaccume advance issues
So i dropped a 22r with a 5 speed into my 73 hilux. Everything is up and running, i just need to get an exhaust built and find an electric fan. While setting the timing today I found out that when I hook up my vacuum lines to the distributor it advances the timing way out. I have removed all the emission equipment off this motor and it is running a weber carb. Both vacuum lines I had hooked up to direct vacuum. I found out the first port should be direct vacuum and the second should be metered..where can I find a metered vacuum source on a stripped down motor?
thanks!
and to make life even better while messing around with it I found my inner diaphram is leaking. When I hook up a vacuume line to it my vacuum drops from 20 inches to 15 and my timing doesnt move...
Do i need to run the vacuum advances? the timing advances when I rev it manually with out the lines hooked up, and If i do where should i hook the vacuum lines to once i get a new advance unit?
For a side note I just took it for a test drive and it ran a lot better then with the vacuume advance hooked up, that might be cause of the leak, or the fact that it was advanced 12 degrees more then it was supposed to be at all times. Either way its pretty fun to drive now..
yes i know i misspelt the title...grrr cant edit that
thanks!
