tire size selection how do you?
When you select a tire to go with your gearing, do you just go by the advertised tire height or do you look at the mounted hieght, or go by the ride height?
Reason I ask, is I've got 4.56 gears in my Toyota. I have used Dunlop Mud Rovers for years and prefer them over anything else I've used. The 32's have a diameter of 31.8" and the 33's have a 32.4" diameter. When mounted at the vehicle weight on them, the ratio from axle center to pavement is less than half of the diameter of the unmounted tire. My thinking is if if 4.56 gears are best matched to a 32" tire, than the calculation that tells us this is basing tire size on the actual tire height on the truck, not the advertized tire size. To go a bit further, a 32.4" tire on a 3,400 pound truck with 35-40psi inflation is going to compress at least another .25-.50", so the 33's would be a better match than 32s, which would have compressed to near 31".
Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Am I missing anything (aside from tire weight)?

Whatever works for you is fine. Since the stock tires would be subject to the same actual height and compression under load, that would have been factored into the factory gear selection. Plus you don't have an infinite selection of gearing, so just need to get close enough.

I guess I'm just trying to justify getting 33's and hoping they work well enough with 4.56 gears. Maybe that's my real queiston and I just hoped to sound smart-like
