Can someone explain to me where the front headlight relays are located in my 1983 toyota SR5 pickup. I tried tracing the loom back from the headlight but I don't see anything that looks like a relay in the line.

Likely it is in the engine fuse box if it is similar to my '85:

And there is tyipcally 1 relay for all the lights. You can add relays to make the headlights work better:

Funny you should say that. If you follow the loom from the driverside headlight it runs along the fender and through the firewall and then into the fusebox under the dash. There isn't a relay for the headlamps in there but there are a LH headlamp fuse and a RH headlamp fuse. neither are blown but I don't have front headlights. However the rear lamps do work.
If you follow the loom from the right headlight it to goes through the firewall but turns upward and dissapears under the dash.
When I bought the truck there were two old Toyota relays still new in there boxes in the glovebox but for the life of me I can't find where the relay goes to even see if it is bad.

Found them they were up above the brake pedal under the dash!
