Clutch
Alright I'm pretty useless with clutches so this will probably sound like a stupid question.
When i bought my 82' i got it pretty cheap becuase the guy before me tried to put a 91' 22-re out fo a RWD in it and got lost halfway through it. What i did was left the 82' 4-speed in it and slapped a carb and intake manifold on it and away i went so i didnt have to do the whole wire harness over.
What I'm asking is when i go to buy a new clutch will i buy one for a 82' because of the tranny? or would i buy one for a 91' for the block?
Like i said i know nothing about clutches, but I've been told that it takes a good 7-8 hours to put one in, is that true? how hard is it?
Thanks,
-Newton

It's not that hard, just a pain. You've got to either take out the engine or the transmission. Really, to disconnect the driveshafts & a couple wires, and get the 6 or 8 or whatever bolts out from between the tranny and engine then wrestle them free from one another is not complicated, just kind of a pain. Seems like you could do it in one day pretty easily if you've got someone with you who's done it before. Otherwise plan a weekend. You need either a modified floor jack or 2-3 people to get it loose and lower it to the ground once it's ready. It took me a good 6 hours my first time to get everything disconnected (I was even more new than I am now to wrenching), then about 10 minutes with a couple friends to make sure I had all the bolts out, and then working it back & forth to get it to break free from the engine. And that was just getting the transmission out. It can obviously be done much faster, though...
No idea about the year range clutch you need.....

yep, the only thing you have to worry about on the tranny is the input shaft splines, which are the same on all tranny's found behind a 22r(e), so match the clutch to the engine.
