I would try the distributer cap and rotor, it may be just old and need of replaceing. any way its a good thing to chage and cheap

happened to my 77, its the dist. cap. Take it off and shoot a flashlight into it, you'll be able to see a trail jumping from one electrode to the other. New rotor wouldn't be a bad idea while you're at it. Should only cost 10 bucks tops for both.

could it be running really rich? What happens when you rev it?

Like I said check timing and set points.

Well I had a few other things on the go and this was put on the back burner. So I got a new distributer, now there is new plugs, wires, and rotor. Wondering about any links or tips on getting the timing right, never dealt with timing before...

Any help is appreciated, thanks
