Question 22r to 22re swap

Ok, first of all I have searched this forum and a few others. My situation is that I have an '83 with no motor in it, and a rebuilt 22re. I also have an '89 parts truck that I was planning on getting on getting the EFI stuff from. I know I will need the wiring harness, ECU, tank with EFI pump, and the fuel lines. All the other posts I have read on the subject are for swapping parts from a 22re to a 22r. I just need help to figure out what I need to swap the whole 22re in. Any help, info, or points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Also, has anybody used the harness from Off-Road Solutions for this swap, or heard of people doing it? Thanks in advance.

I'm doing the exact same thing right now and putting a fresh 95 22re in my FTOY.

You'll need the harnes, ECU, Gas tank (you can go external pump here with regulator if your planning a fuel cell) Your filter should be mounted on the side of the motor under the EFI stuff. So that helps.

You need the ignitor for it and you should be set. Of course plumbing. The 22r radiator is smaller in size than the later EFI radiators. Now, not sure if this would cause a problem but if your running hot you'll know why. I'm switching to aftermarket.

HTH, Also, the best place to look for details on this is the Pirate Toyota Forum FAQ.

good luck,
