about a hundred hours of work but man it was worth it i get head turns every where. anyways from what i can gather it is off of a post 85. frankenyota is exactly the thing because it is made up of all different parts. the thing is the original engine i had in it was dead and a buddy of mine had a 92 efi 2 wd and i swapped everything (damn ill never do that again) so when that died i had to smog and reg it anyway thats when i started the proj. so it has the 92 efi engine in it the engine is set to 92 stock specs and i have it set up as the 81 carb. i had bought a donor 81 truck for the smog parts but the carb was in ˟˟˟˟ty condition so i had to use whatever i had left. so i set the carb to the 81 specs with all the vac diagrams

It sounds like your exhaust valves are opening too soon with the mixture still burning. Check your cam timing. Retarded spark timing will cause the mixture to continue to burn into the exhast also. Again, check your cam to crank and cam to distributor timing.

The timing is advanced to much, or its leaning out bad. One or the other.
Only thing I have ever seen make a manifold glow. Usually if a cat is clogged...the cat will glow not the manifold.
