Coolest jack stands I ever saw was when I helped out at the Lake Superior Rally last year. They had steel tubing welded up in a tripod with a pin that stuck out sideways from the top. We'd just jack up the car and slip the pins into tubes that were cut off flush with the rocker panel trim . . . then lower the car onto the stands. You can kinda see two black dots near the front and back of the rocker panel trim in this photo:

FYI there is a little bottle jack (˟˟˟˟˟ty but it WILL work) under your passenger side rear seat.

I have too much $$$$ in my Snap-On 2.5 ton floor jack. However I will never need to buy another jack ever.
I also have a pair of Blue POint 6 ton jack stands and two pairs of 3 ton Blue POint jack stands.
The nice thing about my 6ton are they lift really high. Never had an issue under the 4r and plenty of room to support a taller vehicle
Like what has been said, i believe 2.5 ton is a minumum for a floor jack

The 6-ton jack stands from sears work well.
I also bought their suv 21" jack but I'm not too happy with it.
Although it has good length, it's very narrow.
I like the speedy jacks as well, and this one takes several strokes to get it to the chassis. I'm still on the fence on the jack we'll see how it keeps working.
I've only used it a couple of times.

For the last word in super high quality jack stands, take a gander here or here..
I needed stands with flat tops (with rubber pads) for the 993, as well as traditional cradle tops for the 4Runner's rear axle. I ended up with two sets of the 3000N (6,000 lb) stands with flat tops, and a pair of cradle top posts. These things are insanely stout - there is no comparison to the various cheap-o stands I've had/discarded over the years. Stability is first class and the round steel 'pads' under each leg guarantee that these will not sink into hot asphalt. Also makes sliding them across garage floors easy. Expensive, yes. But it's the last set I'll ever buy, period.
