Trueflow air filter VS Amsoil

A few years ago I saw a demo of this air filter at the Offroad Expo, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name brand, so like everyone else I purchased an Amsoil brand. Okay, there's a huge difference in the quality of the Trueflow VS the Amsoil, in relation to construction. I remember Gadget making a post that he didn't like the new design of the Amsoil filter compared to the earlier one???? Then when I saw Charle's filter(older version) I knew why, they really cheapened the design. The Trueflow filter has a solid frame around the foam inner, that took a bit of persuation to get into my air box. It fit very tight, but this is a good thing, unlike the Amsoil that didn't seal well at all. The bottom of the airbox there are spring loaded clips that lock the filter against the housing. The Amsoil's design doesn't clip in at all, thus causing a very poor fit.

I've attached 3 photo's showing a front view and the solid frame that retains the filter, then one showing the back side, where you can clearly see it has a larger surface area exposed and finally one showing the poor construction of the Amsoil filter.

Cleaning the filter is similar to the Amsoil, but when it comes to lubing, they have a spray can, unlike the bottle that you have to pour over, then try and work into the foam, if you've done it, you know how messy it can get.

As for filtration, they are both 2-stage foam filter, but because of the construction, I think the Trueflow should be much better. The demo at the Expo, showed it filtered better than a K&N or a stock paper, without causing any additional restriction in air flow.

I can't tell. Does the trueflow have a rubberized outer edge to give a good seal against the airbox? And, how much are these? Jason?

Yeah, re-oiling my amsoil filter is kind of a messy process.

I wondering...could i just buy the Trueflow(or Amsoil brand for that matter) spray can and use it on my older-style Amsoil air filter? I've already got it and don't really need a new air filter.

I have been hearing good things about these too. They have some videos on their website and I had seen some video of a test they did at a car show that seemed pretty impressive. http://www.realtruck.com/videos/trueflowvideos.php
Under the viewer scroll to the test results a click play.

I just ordered one from Jason B today. I like the idea of having a tighter fit in the box (don't go there). One of my complaints about the Amsoil filters from the beginnng is their loose fit; like they need to warm up to have a good seal. The TrueFlows look like they'll do a better job all around I.M.O.

Personal Plug: If you get one, order it from Jason B. If you've not dealt with him in the past, give him and Burtman Industries a try. His customer service is awesome and he really wants to get you what you need for your ride. He's gone out of his way to get me a couple of items in the past. And, he's one of our yotatech brothers!

Scroll down the list and click on the one that says "True Flow Test Results"
they demo the filter against a paper and K&N, the same they did at the Expo.

AMSOIL INC. of Superior, WI announces the introduction of a new premium, high efficiency air filter utilizing nanofiber technology with a four year/100,000 mile service life guarantee and superior air flow. Positioning itself to be a world class leader in filtration, the AMSOIL Ea Filter is incomparable in both design and performance.
If it filters as good as they say, then there is no way you'll get 4 years or 100,000 miles out of it, if anything it'll need changing more often.
