"End of the Road South", taken of our camp in Tierra Del Fuego which is the southernmost tip of South America. A bittersweet moment for us after 669 days and 29,515 miles of driving and sleeping in the back of The 4Runner. We could have made there faster with fewer miles, but frankly we were having too much fun to rush it. When I took this photo, we had no idea what our next move would be and we were trying to calculate if we had enough $ leftto ship The 4Runner back to the US with us.

As if my stock leaf springs weren't sagging enough, the canoe's weight along with tons of camping gear definitely did it's toll...now I know what my first upgrade needs to be for this mostly stock vehicle. Full Old Man Emu suspension!

the two sections can be stacked on top of each other in the back so that I can fold the seats back up. (with the seats folded down I just remove the two seats on the front section so it just rests on top of the seats)

I bought one 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" plywood and cut it in two sections to fit the back. The supports are 10" sections of 3/4" pipe threaded into flanges.

234,500 original miles. The 2nd owner replaced the engine at 204,000 because they had to replace the head gasket... they figured they might as well go for it, just in case! 30,000 miles on a new engine!

those running boards have to go, but I love the 80's 4runner graphics on the rocker panel...you don't see too many 1st gens with those graphics!
