Used the 3m stripe remover and the drill to take off the faded sr5 stripes. It wouldn't take the hoof prints off so i used 500 git wet sand paper which sort of worked. I went a little heavy in one spot and rubbed through the paint... but it's better than a hoof. The second hoof is off now as well.

rebuilt the green mystery connector as it was in bad shape. Dismantled, re-soldered with new wire and double/tripple reinforced with heat shrink tube. Twist connection was a temp measure for testing. Pretty sturdy now even if it never gets used. Worth while project in order to learn how to save these old crusty connections. Yellow plug was hanging and dirty so it's cleaned up and connected to it's yellow port now.

Front leaf spring shackle swings back and allows leaf to rest on the frame. Not cool. Got some junk spring packs and hopefully i can put together a "b*stard leaf pack" to lift it a bit and get the shackles some clearance.

Front spring shackles resting on the frame. Not good... I have some front leaf packs from another toyota so hopefully i can put some "b*stard" packs together out of all the leafs i have around now to get the shackles off the frame. Drilled out old bushing from the used leafs and got new harris bushings ready to go in upon install. I'd like to get shackles, ubolts, etc but i think that will happen once i redo the suspension properly. For now we need at least some frame clearance.

How she sits as of now. Working on putting together some spring packs for the front, maybe rear, and researching some fresh shocks all around most likely. Would love the OME 2.5" kit. Hopefully within the year if everything else cooperates.

View of the bike rack collapsed for storage. I think it looks ok actually. Utilitarian. The coopers that came on the truck were dry rotting and not safe at all. I had cooper m+s 32s from the 4runner so those are on some stock split tri spoke toyota 16s with the 1.5" wheel spacers just for now. Searching for some 15" tires that will work for me. Fills out the wheel wells a lot better and the ride improved a lot. Off the line power suffered but that's expected with stock gearing.

Bike rack allows the tail gate to swing all the way down and makes no contact. Fairly happy about the setup. Clearance was a gamble. When it's collapsed inwards for storage the bed just touches when down. Pretty solid.

Little view of the storage coming together. Test fitting some gas, tools, shovel on the right, avalanche shovels back left, axe fits in right hand compartment under shovel, some other fluids, straps, etc stashed about. Best storage solution for now. New locks and fresh gas lifters on canopy.

view of storage under the platfrom when raised up. Put a floor layer down for saving knees when crawling around. Grabbed a little jump seat for a boat or something... Fits well and will make a good place to chill when the platform is down.

Killz brand latex primer, few coats of black. One long compartment on the left. Split compartment on the right. on the cab end of the bed is a metal box 10" high which supports the platform when at full length perfectly.

Had some time to start the sleeping platform system with integrated storage. Pretty classic internet design. Center platform can go bed height or raised to 10 inches level with storage for full width sleeping for two. Turn buckles, cabinet latches, etc

Grabbed a front valance off the same 2wd i got the tailgate from. Wire wheeled and painted flat black. Also did the grill, bumper and end caps to match at some point.

Found snowboard rack at a hardware recycling place in town for 8 bucks. bent the brackets a bit and strapped it down. windows still open easily. This thing isn't going anywhere but i'll obviously check the hardware when it's in use.

hit the junkyard and scored a somewhat color matched (rattle can maybe) tail gate from a 2wd with a jap bed. It fits decent and i kind of like the jap roll to the outside for the tailgate. semi useful and helps with water run off from the topper. Also scored all the light covers i need to get legal. OEM baby!

Ideally i'll get a full length ladder rack over the topper for spares, gas, jack, shovel, axe, offroad lights etc... I feel like the rack might be a good project to start learning to weld again. I'm eager.

Cheap black fiberglass canopy in decent enough shape. Hard to find the right size so I felt like this was a score. Need a tailgate now...

sr5 seats! But the driver's side has zero cushion left. I'm sitting on the rail. Maybe junkyard yota seats in the future. Center console hinge is busted and the top is pretty nasty. Read window works about as well as you'd expect for this age.

nasty shift boot cover, hack wired cd player, burned out dash bulbs, aftermarket steering wheel (horn wired wrong), standard cracked dash already installed!, and about 30 years of dirt road farm dust to be cleaned out of the nooks and crannies. Not a horrible starting point.

The beautiful deck railing and white bumper. Welded up solid though with a hitch mount. I'll do it black and leave it for now. Deer hoof marks because... Badge of honor? Might explain the front end body damage and bent tie rod... Climb in step for a super short farmer's wife i assume. It'll go.

having a look at the white steelies. I think they are from IFS though because the backspacing measures something like 4.5+" if i measure correct. Full set. Maybe trade for something... Corgi for scale.

Pulled one of the 30 year old sweaty farmer butt seat covers to reveal some sr5 seats! I'm into the look but the driver's side has me riding on the rear seat cross rail. I'd like to get new cushioning in them. Maybe some junk yard yota seats in the future though.

Interior was decent. The famous cracked dash is already installed so that's good. Disgusting shift boot cover. Racing steering wheel. Horribly wired cd player... Nice guage cluster. Few burned out bulbs and stuff...

Nice look at the deer hoof marks I assume were put on as a badge of honor. The front was kind of banged up when i got it. PO didn't know if that was the case. I'm going with deer for now... Also you can see the nice deck railing(?) rear bumper with some ugly reflective tape on it. We'll have to do something about that. The bumper itself is welded up pretty solid and has a trailer hitch already on it. Also came with a smitty built front from some other truck that won't fit without fab'd mounts?

threw the white steelies up next to it to have a look. Corgi for scale. The real bummer is, if my measurement is right the backspacing is for IFS, something like 4.5+", and won't work without spacers. Correct me if i'm wrong. They came with the truck and had a bunch of mismatched tires. Tossed the tires and storing the wheels for now. I have 1.5" spacers x4 but i'd rather not use them.
