Here's some testing with the diaphragm. It's hooked up to the timing advance line on my '87 here. Revving the motor causes the diaphragm to contract proportionally, but the diaphragm is fully contracted when the throttle is only ¼ open. This could prove to be a minor issue in the future, but at the moment I am not so particularly concerned with those specifics, and if it proves to be an issue, the addition of a spring which adds resistance to its movement will solve this problem nicely.
