The failing alternator culprit...

Hey all,
I made a post a few weeks ago about my apparent charging system issues (flickering charge/brake lights). Well, as should be expected my alternator took a dump on me the other day. I was coming home from the gym and noticed my dash lights getting dim, voltmeter WAAAAY down and the tachometer sitting at 0. Idling was sketch, and I was only 1/2 mile from home so I blew through 2 stop signs (nobody around) knowing if I stopped I'd be pushing. A perfect park in front of the house and all was good. I went out today and yanked the alternator out to inspect the brushes...I'm guessing thats the problem after looking at them. I've attached a couple of pictures and would appreciate somebody confirming that these nubs of carbon brush are most likely not doing the job. I ordered the brush holder and brush assembly last night and hopefully I'll be able to get my 4Runner back on the road sometime next week.
