As i do with all the vehicles i have owned, i do a pre winter tune up just to keep things in tip top shape. in the next few days this is what im gonna be doing.

New plugs-NGK Plat.-love ngk plugs, wanted iridium but didnt wanna wait
New wires-NGK Wires-had em in the integra and loved em
New Distro cap + rotor-OEM Replacement, old one was really worn, and would explain some things
K&N Intake Kit, only gonna use it for on road use, gonna modify the stocker for offroad use
Fuel Filter-tryed to get yota one, but had to go with purolator
New Cat-got one for a steal so i went with it
New rear section exhaust + all hangers, old muffler literally opened up like a tin can
PCV Valve-swear to god i cant find it, it may sounds stupid, or maybe cuz it was dark, but i couldnt find it??? help would be great.

thats should be about it for before the winter, depending on my cash situation im thinking about a 4inch lift, but we'll see, if not im just gonna replace the shocks, leaf springs.

also i have another question, when i make really tight turns, and hit a bump, small or big, i get this creaking noise. only thing i can think is that maybe the steering stops are shot??? any insight would be great. and if there is anything else u think i should do for the tune up, lemme know, im new to 4x4's so it can hurt.

 

last one is the steering stops and for the pcv valve 22re ?

also how hard is it to change the steering stops? i have only owned sport compacts before this and am just doing a lot of reading to figure stuff out.

 

not much you can do about the steering stops.......also the pcv valve is a real pita search for 3vze pcv and you will see

Put some grease on the steering stops-it works for few months.

 

sounds like a good idea, i got a friend that works for toyota and hes gonna get me the plastic covers that go on, but he said like u guys did that they wear fast. i love the look on ppls faces when i make really tight turns, thier like that kid needs a new car, and all i can think is if u only knew lol

 

On the 3.0, the PVC valve is under the left side of the intake plenum. It is a pita to get to, I am going to change mine soon too. I am going to drain the coolant, since winter is coming, and take off my intake plenum, or atleast lift it up some so I can get my big paws in there to get to it. Good luck!

 

I would also add new belts (excluding timing), wiper blade inserts, and a radiator flush with new Toyota thermostat to the list.

 

Put the plastic caps on the stops and STILL grease them every couple of months. That is the advice I was given at the local Dealer. He said they should last twice as long that way. Of course if you don't turn the wheels all the way to the stops, they should last for ever.

I would also do a COMPLETE interior detail. You don't want to when it is 20 degrees.
Flush, re-fill and burp coolant system.
Top off windshield wiper fluid.
Brakes all around, (at least check them).
If you get a lot of ice, I would get some graphite, (or similar), doorlock lubricant.

 

You may be able to get in there without pulling the plenum. you will need to remove all the vacumm lines from the side of the plenum and use a pair of angled needle nose pliers and a lot of patience but you may be able to get the bugger out that way. Good luck

If you take off [or loosen] the intake plenum don't forget you'll probably need a new gasket.

 

When you are putting the new pcv back in, make sure you dont push its rubber grommet in or else you will have to go diggin, I always use silicone spray to lube it up before ya put it in.

 

Bump on the doorlock lube!

 

damn bro, you just hit everything i did that i didnt mention on the head, twice lol.

im a neat freak with the interior and i was just on a 1500 mile trip so i detailed everything, filled the washer fluid, coolant was just done 3k ago, with new thermo and new radiator, brakes are good for the winter, and i just lubed the locks and i always carry de icer.

 

Thankfully I don't live in the cold anymore. Well maybe 2-4 weeks a year.

 

it gets cold as hell up here in jerz, but i love the cold, so its all good

 

I'm swapping a 5 speed transmission on my next tuneup and maybe possible a striaght axle.
