Need an education on 3.0 cold start injector.

Here is the FSM link:

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...ne/97colds.pdf

If I read that correctly it says that it switches the CS injector off at 77 degrees F. This doesn't make much sense as I am in high idle till between 160-180 on my truck. Am I missing something here?

huh??

I thought the cold start injector only fired during cranking and when the engine fired and began running it didnt fire any more?

I also thought the high idle was built into the ECU based off of the ECT sensor?

Could very well be. I want my engine to come out of cold start at 140 degrees if possible, would there be any way to fool the ecu??

The high idle is cause by the coldstart path in the throttlebody, If you have the airhose off of it , Its the big hole you see at the bottom, You can also see the water hoses going in underneath and out to the back of the engine.
The Cold start injector will open durring all starts no matter what the temp then the timer takes over for a moment but if the engine is cold the coolent temp sensor may keep it open longer for warm up.

Didnt know the coolent temp switch was variable, thought it was on off, I have to check my books again.

The cold start injector and the fast idle are 2 separate and different functions.

The cold start injector sprays extra fuel (its like the choke on a carb) only while cranking, only for a few seconds, and only when it is cold.

It must be variable because the idle slowly comes down as the engine warms up. I guess the big question is at what temp the idle is at normal and then lower it a bit if possible.
