Steering Gearbox Leak

Anybody have any idea of where I can get the seal for the pitman shaft. This is the lower seal on the gearbox where the pitman arm connects to the gearbox. Dealer can't get it.

1987 2WD 4 CYL Power Steering 5 spd

Thanks

I find that hard to believe that the dealer can't get it. I can believe they don't want to look for it.

Try "strap22" on here as he deals in Toyota parts and is an all around nice helpful guy.

Good luck.

Just came from the dealer and he ordered the seal for me twice and it was the wrong size. We could not figure why.

The seal I need is OD 1.5" ID 1.188" (shaft OD) or NOK AG8095E. NAPA does not have it either.

I assume your parts dealer person is searching using your VIN#? Is this a stock truck?

Yes

I've found a 1.125 ID. Will that seal it?

Check this link:

Are you talking about item number 13 here?

Also see page 4 here:

My dealer ordered the above item 13 twice and it's the wrong ID and OD.

Are your steering box and pitman arm original?

Or maybe there was a change in dimensions sometime in 87?

I'm the original owner and the gearbox is original.

Last night, I went ahead and put the 1.125" seal on. It was a tight fit but it seems to be sealing.

The 1.125" ID seal is the largest ID seal you can get with the 1.5" OD. The seal makers would make the larger ID but the min orders were large (200 min).

I don't understand why the Toyota seal was the wrong size. We checked the part number for 1986 trucks and it was the same as 1987. My production date is 10/1986.
