Removal of ADD hubs to manual

My question is if I remove my ADD and go to manual hubs, can I at times leave the hubs locked and shift into 4WD on the fly as with ADD? This would be helpful in times where the conditions rapidly change.

I converted to AISIN hubs earlier this year; it was extremely simple & I realized a slight increase in fuel economy & easier low-speed steering.
