Those are screaming deals.

If people are looking for new rubber, price match that stuff to Wal-Mart or Sears. There are big bucks to be saved.

This might be dumb but whats the advantage of price matching a local store when you save on shipping but have to pay sales tax??

On a $145 tire, sales tax in Wisconsin would be around 8 bucks or so. Tires are big and heavy, shipping would be a bugger, or at least more than 8 bucks.

Plus, if you match locally, you have a store you can drive to and take care of issues plus you can get road hazard and stuff. Maybe it is just me, but getting road hazard from a joint I would have to ship the tire back to makes very little sense.

Angry No non-white letter 285's...

Well, my time for new tires is coming, because I'll really actually need them, but I'd be looking for ones without the white lettering on them. Maybe I just didn't see them, but I don't think they had any 285/75 R16 tires without white lettering on sale there. Shucks... well I have a while until I'll really NEED new tires, so maybe I'll find a better deal.

MTRs are white on one side and black on the other...you just choose which way you want them to look when you put them on.

I want to go 265/75r16 with my next tires and already bought some 2002 sport wheels. I had considered BFG AT/KO but this pricing is making these tires very tempting. For you guys with these tire I have some questions (I have the old Bridgestone AT - the 689 for comparison):

1. Did gas mileage suffer?
2. How loud are they?
3. How is the tread life?

BTW - my price for these tires with shipping is $691. I'm looking at $721 for the BFG AT locally at Discount tire.

I went on the Sears website yesterday to check out their price matching policy. This is from their website:

" We'll Match Any Price Plus...
If you find a lower price on an identical branded item with the same features currently available for sale at another local retail store, Sears will match that price plus give you 10% of the difference. Just tell your sales associate at the time of, or within 30 days after, your purchase.

If you find a lower price (including shipping, handling and delivery) on an identical branded item with the same features currently available for sale and delivery in your area from a local retail store's online site, Sears will match that total price Plus, give you 10% of the difference. Just print the ordering page, including shipping, handling and delivery, and bring it to your Sears store at the time of, or within 30 days after, your purchase"

They are using the term "local retail store" in both statements which makes me wonder if that was done for the purpose of eliminating a price match with tirerack.com

I'm sorry...I must be missing the special sale price some where.
$146 for a 32". Please...that sucks. Maybe it's good for GY, but it's still too much for my blood. My brother is a sales manager at GY. Tell you what....I'll be back.

Hey what size are you guys looking at wanting. My brother might be able to beat the price for the 265/75/16 depending on how many are in. But he can't beat the price for the 285/75/16. It cost him more than what tire rack is offering it.

Any clue?

Any clue as to how long I have left on my tires? They're stock (is it 275/75R16?) on 16" wheels, and by the tread wear indicator, there is about half a centimeter of tread left. Does anyone have any clue as to what this translates to in measures of time? Do I have more than 6 months left?

Just ordered my 285/75/16 MT/Rs. Hopefully, they'll make it to VA before the weekend.

I'm jealous on that 285 price but I don't want to put on a 1" body lift and regear to save a couple of bucks on tires. The 285's would definately look nicer.

I put on 265/75R16 last fall and have around 8,000 miles on 'em. I think the mileage dropped about 1-1.5 MPG from the stock tires (factoring in the change in 3% change in diameter). I get around 16 mixed hwy and around town. I did get around 20 mpg last week on long road trip (no wind, flat land, running around 75 mph).

They hum, but are not very loud.

Do a search here and on 4x4 for more info about tread life. I haven't had mine very long. For what it's worth, I love these tires and think they fit the 4runner perfectly!

How are the tires looking? I heard they don't have a long tread life.
