Are you taking them back to where you bought them?

Looks to me like it was the fault of the tech who put them on, the bead isnt set right. I doubt its the tires, I have put on countless tires myself and never once even with cheap tires on other peoples cars did that happen.

Like everyone else said. The tire changer probably damaged the bead when mounting the tires. Go back to your tire store and have them replace the tire.

That can also be a factory defect, Not common but it does happen.
It could be a bad radialwrap, Where it didnt make it completely around and therefor making a softspot.
Still take it back.

With the road hazard insurance the tire was replaced for free. I really pressed the guy at the shop to admit that it was an installation error, but he swore up and down that it was a factory defect. I am glad I was not on the highway if that bead let go. I can't believe it was barely holding on. If I have the slightest hint of a (another) problem I will drop these in a heartbeat and get new ones...all I can really do right now.

Next time I will bring my business elsewhere...as I sat waiting for my truck there was a guy who was sitting next to me getting all four of his *new* tires replaced due to improper mounting.

Definately sounds like the installer's fault.

I've been looking at these tires. How have they held up so far? I was set on getting REVO's, but these grabbed my attention. Any excessive road noise? Off-road review?

if that doesn't tell you to go somewhere else, then I don't know what will.

Read before you post quotes out of context.

I saw a Toyo open country AT on a F250 with a bulge like that... further from the rim though. I imagine that was a defect.

That "bulge" is called a May Pop! (may pop at anytime)

I bought the same tires 2 years ago and have put about 50k miles on them. I have had no complaints. Bought mine from TireRack.com. 4 tires for $480 wasn't bad (265 75 16s) on stock 16in wheels.

I have had no problems, in fact I would buy them again and probably will. I drive approx. 40 miles a day to work mostly interstate and on weekends they see city driving. they have really proved themselves off-road as well.

If you want a complaint, some parts of the tread seams are narrow and will pick up pea gravel to throw out later down the road.

not gonna say that you didn't get a bad set or just improper installation, regardless you are fortunate you discovered the bulge before it popped.

i don't see how that's an installation error... i install tires all day and their's nothing i can see that can go wrong with putting a tire on and having that happen... I have seen those bulges on many "cheap" tires. there are occasional bulges on the higher end, but not close to the amount on the cheap tires.

These are the tires I was running under my 87 4Runner 33x12.5x15 with6" of lift. They were not impressive off the road but generally comfortable on asphalt and dirt road. BFG is where it's at for me. Old skool design but proven good quality for a looooong time.

Sorry I forgot to mention but about 3/4 tread at 6 thousand kilometers the two front got incredibly horrid camber wear due to my stupidity and failure to realize that I needed to fix my ball joints
