Have you ever taken off your steering wheel?

I had this wierd problem with my '95 2nd gen 4runner.

all of a sudden my brights stopped working.

They worked when i pulled the stick towards me to flash 'em.

But the didn't work when i pushed the stick away.

I was trying to get the mechanism off to check it out but i couldn't get the steering wheel off.

Any of you guys ever had the same problem?

Did you have your headlights on? I know on my 99 that the brights dont go on when you push it forward unless you have the headlights on.

I took mine off a few days ago...very easy

1- there is a screw on the back the holds horn cover on
2-there is a 17 or 19 mm nut
3-push and pull utill it comes off..took a little muscle

I've never done the wheel on my truck, but I have generally used a small puller to remove steering wheels. Make sure you make some kind of match mark on the wheel and shaft, so that you can return it to the same position during re-assembly (if there isn't one, already).
