Anybody install an MSD/Jacobs multi-spark system?

I'm curious about those Multi-spark discharge systems like the MSD6 and the like. I've read the literature claiming HP and MPG gains and I'd like to know if anybody here has used them and if there were any real gains and if they were worth the money.

Thanks i saw that post it has to do with the jacobs ignitor/coil not the multiple spark discharge system. thanks though aviator

DIS-2 (6211) on 86 4x4 turbo - my two cents...

Depending on what you get and what you want one to do for you, I wouldn't recommend one. I have been running a DIS-2 for about 40k miles and am having issues with the system.
The led light is blinking as of 2 weeks ago, and lately it's been missing most of the time if I pull past 3k rpm. Not sure what the exact source of the problem is but I have checked wiring/connections, plugs, wires, coils, and found nothing wrong. MSD told me that model is potted and cannot be serviced.
Others have great things to say about the "2-step for launching". But for the money it's in my opinion a waste.
MSD isn't extremely helpful on the phone, or on the website in the forums it seems either. I have had much more luck with the quick email responses and insight of Barry at SDS with other issues during my project. Who knows, maybe I just didn't probe deep enough into MSD's line-up of "knowledgeable employees."
And perhaps, the unit itself is not the problem, and I realize "bad news travels fastest", but IMO, it's just one more expense, and one more thing that may fail. - NH

I used to run the MSD system but its not as reliable as the OEM ignition system.I had one breakdown on the drive luckily I was able to wire it back to stock.I just kept the MSD spark plug wires on and so far no problems.

WHEN they run they run GREAT. I don't think they were designed with imports in mind, I like PnP- if they go down you can switch back to stock- but that's NOT the point is it.

I have the MSD wired up with my Corolla 3tc carb setup and it runs fine but I had one go bad already but luckily found another one for $100 but my engine is setup to plug-in bck to stock just in case it goes bad.

Thanks guys I'd forgotten all about this thread lol... I looked into this a bit more with my mech. yrs ago and decided at the time to not go with it because of the reliability issues, among other things... that's not to say the idea isin't sound... that a longer duration spark kernal might lead to a more efficient fuel burn...

msd not for trail rigs

had an msd set up on an 1983 supercharged 20r truck years ago. happiest 2 moments of building this rig, the day i installed it, and the day i removed it. these set ups were originaly designed for circle track racing.seemed to give me just a touch of power rite off idle and then nothing to about 6,000 rpms then id feel a little more pull. they fail very often (thats why you see two in race cars so they can swicth on the track when one goes out) and just arent worth the effort and they usualy throw your tach off as well. if any one still cares thats my opinion.
