anyone had any luck installing a Dual cd player in their 4runner

I bought a Dual Cd player for my 4runner because my friend has one and it always plays good and because frankly I love the blue light it put outs. blue issss ppuuurrddyyyy. well i bought one of those walmart crap stereo install kits and just fought for the 4 hours trying to install something that should of taken 30 minutes. Well my questions are
1. has anyone tried installing a Dual cd player in their 4runner or has used one of those walmart kits and could show me some pictures of it and how its supposed to come together.
2. someone before me has torn apart my stock plug. one of the wires was cut off right outside of the plug and the wire that is supposed to be connected their well obviously needs to be reconnected. Ive tried putting some soder on the end of the wire and jamming it down in the hole but it doesnt work consistenly. Kinda takes a little jiggling to get working right. Any ideas on how to fix this?
3. the plug that plugs into the back of the cd player is kinda loose. The cd player will turn on and off because the plug wobbles back and forth. Anyway to fix this or will some good ole electrical tape be my only option.

If any of yall could help it would be greatly appreciated. I came so close to just beatin the ลลลล outta my 4runner tonight it wont even funny.

if it was me, i would get a new stock wire harness and splice it in to repair the plug and wires.... is the radio itself installed now? oops, just saw that you have a 95... not a 3rd gen

anyway heres the appropriate info on how to install

the radio is in now. The plug comes loose from the back and needs to be jiggled around somehow to make work. The wires that goes into the plug also requires jiggling to work. I cut a part around the stock radio trim with half a razor blade sititng in my 4runner so that also needs to be cleaned up. I plan on engagin a full scale war on my 4runner this weekend so im just trying to get ideas on how to fix the little things before it comes down to it

also the Dual cd player doesnt use the stock holes, so my stock brackets dont really do crap. gotta try and figure something out about that to.

Loose plug

Hey if you have loose wires in the nylon plastic plug that plugs into the back of the radio, you can mix up some slow setting epoxy (or quick set if yer fast) and squirt it into the back of the connector where the wires go in with a medical syringe.
From what you mentioned it seems you may also be fighting a loose solder connection on some of the connector plug pins where they meet the circuit board inside the radio. Not hard to reflow the solder holding the pins if your not bothered by disassembling the radio to do it.

no it doesnt. I just thought that they all would have holes somewhere close that would work. there is one hole on the side that would require drilling out the stock bracket a little to get to, but it might work. im trying to locate a stock harness somewhere but dont really wanna drop that much money into it as in a stealership. my 4runner has been nickle and dimin me to death since i got a new summer job. I was pretty frustrated tonight and it was dark so i think im just gonna start again tomorrow after work with a clear mind.

my idea for the wire that needs to be connected into the plug is to just clean up all the old solder, twist the end of the wire to make it nice and firm, and jam as much of it in as i can inside the whole, then cover it with solder and electrical tape. Does this sound like a good plan or am i just a dumb?

Sometimes you can remove the individual wire connections from the plug by using a needle and unlocking them. Then get it out in the open to solder it then reinstall it to the connector.

Step 1: Remove Dual from your truck
Step 2: Run that POS over!! (or get a return if you can)
Step 3: Return the Walmart el cheapo install kit
Step 4: look up color of wire that was cut to determine what it is and splice around the harness. Or you can go to a junk yard and cut out a harness from a similar truck to yours and resolder the new harness to your trucks wiring.
Step 5: buy new toyota radio trim bezel on ebay (you should NEVER have to shave the bezel, EVER!)
Step 6: install a quality blue radio such as panasonic or pioneer, and do not use the trim bezel that comes with the radio. Dont worry everything will line up just ducky without it and without trimming anything... The best part is that it will use the factory brackets
Step 7: Enjoy

Toyota radios are the top 3 easiest radios to install period. I can put one in a second gen in about 15 min. Going the cheap route on a radio will ONLY lead to headaches...trust me I know, I did this professionally for quite a while. Saw all the jensens, the dual failures from BB, and the ESA decks all come back with time from them either falling apart or just failing electrically...

I second that ^^^^

Return the dual, replace/ repair your stock harness. and get you a nice Panasonic HU. I have one and it works great. Plus like you want, it emits so much blue light it can be blinding at times (luckily it has 3 different dim modes so thats never a problem).
