Rear Main Seal Leaking...Getting Worst

So i'm not exactly sure what is leaking on my 94 3.slow, but i'm pretty sure it's the rear main. This morning I came out to a pretty big spot of oil under it. I looked under and saw a couple drops of oil scattered about the engine/tranny connection. I haven't looked into it any farther yet, but i'm guessing it's the rear main seal. i'm not to happy bout that. So anyone who's dealt with this before/anyone who can give some advice, if it is the rear main seal what would you suggest doing? do i just deal with it cause it's an expensive/timely repair, or should i consider fixing it in the near future. I'm exactly sure how bad this type of leak is. Any help would be awesome.

Greetings,
Auto or stick? That makes a difference! We know you have a 3.slow, truck or 4 runner? Is it oil or trans. fluid? Ya see, if it were an auto and it was red, I'd say tranny seal! Now then if it's stick, could be gear oil or motor oil? See what I'm saying? A leak is defined as anything more than a tablespoon in a 24 hr. period! Is it still a leak? Is it trans fluid? Oil? Or Gear Oil? When you answer the ??'s, we'll be better abled to define your leak/problem! The More info posters give, the better! If it's stick, could be the clutch hose dripping, (Not uncommon!) Or the Valve cover gaskets, again, not uncommon! Or the slave Cyl.! If it's stick it could be the slave and/or clutch hose! Or it could be the VC gaskets! Further investigation is needed and appreciated!

not yet...even though i don't think a rear main leak is that bad if you're on top of it, it's still just a pain and embarassment to have your car drop all over the place.

anyone heard of stuff that you put in your oil to make the rear main seal swell? i read somewhere that the rear main is just a rope that you can make swell up.

Bearin Seal by Gunk works like a charm on my rear main seal. I add that and Lucas to every oil change. It stopped the leak for years but now I have a very slow leak although I rarely need to add oil in between changes.

now that's what i'm looking for if i can. the leaks definitely slow but still there. Does anyone think that an oil additive like "Bearin Seal by Gunk" could be bad in anyway? the block was rebuilt 20k ago so don't wanna go destroying it.

My rear main is leaking also. I do not run any additives in my oil but i do check it every week. It is more the embarrassment, parking at your girl's place in her concrete driveway type deal. Money crunch for now, so it'll have to stay that way for a few more weeks. Tim

Just throw a 2' x 2' piece of cardboard in the back & chuck it underneath whenever you stop!!
