FJC is getting a lot of attention
This morning at work I was on my jitney and I saw the maroon H2 looking for a parking spot.
I have seen the rig there before, he was probably coming for a meeting or something.
He drives by my FJ and stops and starts to stare at it.
I was driving by and I asked him how much they went for (yeah, I was playing him
) and he said about $50K probably, and that some lucky exec here probably owned it.
As he drove off I pulled up next to the FJ and opened up the doors and I could see him looking back at me.
I wonder what he was thinking
On the freeway coming home I was in the slow lane, yet doing 55 to 60.
This little white car in the fast lane pulled up besides me and held up traffic for a bit behind their car so he could eyeball me up and down.
He started to drift into my lane a tad so I had to nail it to get ahead a tad.
You really have to pay attention to your surroundings driving these things, as a lot of people are not watching the road.
Maybe they did not know what the FJ was, I do not know.
I have never been stared at so much in my life.
While it is cool there is a lot of enthusiam for the rig, you really need to pay attention to what is going on around you when driving the FJ.

Yeah, I've had estimates to $50K too. Their mouths drop when I tell them they start at $22K, especially Xterra and Jeep owners, hahaha.
For the first time in many years, I'm getting one of these when they're back in stock at GI Joe's.

Yeah, it's funny how expensive people think these things are.
Gun range redneck: That one of dem new land cruiser thangs? How you like it?
Me: Yeah, it's pretty nice, I still like it even after making car payments.
Redneck: Damn, you better, don't them things cost about 50-60 thou?

Weaving down the highway in a doorless. topless, '85 with no swaybars and tons of dents gets a lot of attention too, I just never posted up about it, hahahaha. (or maybe it was that I had no pants on)

Gawk factor
Newspaper article

But Hummer's H3 and Nissan's Xterra had pedestrians' heads spinning while in my possession.
The recent Gawk Factor champion?
From my mailman whose nose print is still visible on the FJ's passenger window to a woman who actually rang my doorbell to tell me how much she wanted one, no vehicle that has graced the pavement of my weedy driveway has caused so many full and complete stops, dropped jaws, hands on hips and "c'mon" spousal nudges as Toyota's new yet retro-styled FJ Cruiser.

Yeah,I see people stop and look at then in parking lots and there was a silver and a yellow one parked just three spots from each other and there was even a guy snapping a pic on his cell. Pretty impressive for a vehicle that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
The most gawked ar car I've been associated with was my friend's yellow Integra Type R;when that came out in late '99 (It's second go around from a sparse showing from '97-'98 models) the attention was almost annoying especially from the yougsters at the fast food places all wanting to know "is it a real R?"
