here's my problem, does anyone know how to get a stripped lugnut off alloy wheels without using a cutting torch. i have tried other tools that suppose to remove stripped out lugnuts but so far have not worked for me if have any suggestion please let me know.

 

Is it on the rear wheel with the aluminum rims? If so, you can pop of the center cap and have plenty of room to take a grinder or dremel tool to the lug nut and slice it lengthwise and then chisel it off. Also works on the front wheel if you have room to get it in there around the hub plate.

 

Steve's Idea is great for the rear, For the front use a drillbit larger then the threds of the bolt, drill it till it reaches the rotor and it will fall off, Replace lugbolt.

If you take the rotor off first, and drill from back and punch rest of lug out of the front you can save time and slap the new lug right in before you mount the rotor

i had to have my mechanic torch the locking type off my explorer once, it actually turned out pretty well, and didnt damage the wheel at all, just had a little soot to wash off.

 

did one of these last night ,got my bj spacers so thought i'd put them in , last owner had locking wheel nuts and i haven't replaced them yet and of course i lost the key for them , try'd most of the other tricks as well , i ended up grinding sides on it and hammering a impact socket onto it then using the impact gun to undo it , worked for all four ,

 

The dealer has replacement keys for the Toyota factory locking lug nuts ($20)

 

so do most of the cheapo locking lug manufacturers, as long as you know the key number. On the one i had to have cut off though the stud actually stripped out of the back of the rotor, and was spinning freely in the rotor. either way my point was that if you torch it right it wont damage alloy wheels

 

Yeah that's good to know. I always use anti-seize on my lug studs
