It's done

My 4Runner is gone... traded in to the local dealership for an 06 Tacoma. I have a few things from the runner that I need to get rid of (Wet Okoles, hi-lift, Thule stuff...) so I'll be posting those as soon as I can get some pictures taken.

The new Tacoma is an 06 SR5 long bed double cab. A nice truck, well-suited for what I need, but it has very little personality, and is very low on the "cool factor" considering what my 4Runner had become.

I'll miss the runner for sure, but the tacoma is nice and should serve me well for many years. I don't have time to wheel anymore, which is why I didn't go with the locker. Plus, you can't get a locker with the long bed d-cabs. I doubt the Taco will see any real mods in the near future (maybe some wet okoles, but nothing major). Now all I gotta do is figure out the best way to haul my bikes around...

Congrats on the new purchace Jackson.
If I was not getting an FJ Cruiser, the double cab Taco would be my next choice.

Post them thar pics when you get the chance.

Ya gotta do the bed mod in the back with a cap so you can sleep back there,
Maybe a custom cargo box with platform for sleeping?
Or just a cargobox for keeping the tools safe.

yea... a cap is in the works... then I'll work up some kind of a platform - something I can sleep on but still put my crap underneath.

I cant believe the dealer took it for a trade. Did you give it to them as it was?

Basically... I pulled off a few of the easier things, but the bumper was still there, all the lift, the tires, the welded-on sliders, etc.

Hey, I am even getting $1,500 for mine on trade in, and it is barely running
Cylinder #3 has zero compression, leaky power steering pump...

I hate to see mine go, it has been a good rig, but my new one will be so much better, and better off road.

jackson,

sorry to see your 4runner go, but i would've bought the same exact vehicle you did if i had to trade/buy it in. d-cab long beds are a rarity out here in so cal, believe or not.

looking forward to the pics
