anyway to track an FJ in transit from factory

How long does it normally take for an FJ to reach dealer. I ordered about 4 weeks ago, and the dealer said it will be here end of May. What route does it travel & is there a way to track it?

depends on where they are being built . if they are coming from japan , they come to the west coast in portland and other locations and then hop on a train and goes to where ever. i work for the railroad and they arent the quickest movers in the world.
i havent heard of any way to track them .
im not sure where they are being built either.

My dealer told me two months from the day they put the order in.
If it comes to either the Port of Portland or the Port of Seattle, it should then take less than a week.

I am not getting anything port installed, so that should speed it up.

I am ordering floormats separately, those are a port installed item, as well as the rock rails.
They are out of rock rails right now, so if you had them ordered, call your dealer to cancel them, or it can sit at port for a month while waiting on them.

We got mine canceled as I did have them on order, as I am going with Bentups instead.
Check out the new 4WD Toyota Owner magazine for a nice write-up of them in the May/June issue.

Also Angry Andy on the forum here has a set installed too.

Corey, Portland is the only port servicing our area.

FJ40, where is your selling dealer located?

Bob, does it come via train then up to my area, or straight on a truck?
I see down in Kent the next city over a huge holding yard for all new vehicles coming into our area.
Probably via train then.

Corey, all Toyotas are trucked into your area. The Kent yard is used by other manufacturers and is a Toyota backup shipping method, but only for exceptions like strikes or excess inventory, neither having happened in years.

I'm on the east coast. My dealer confirmed that its comming 4 weeks ago, but still not here. Its a manual trans titanium w/conv pgk, side air bags & alloys. Do certain configurations take longer?

Factory configs don't take longer, but PPO installations will delay shipment from the port depending on accessory installation scheduling, labor and parts availability.

East Coast has five POE's with delivery times varying by ten days between ports.

union pacific handles the rail for toyota out of portland , im assuming for anything going back east. the bnsf hasnt handled any toyota rail traffic , and the bnsf goes into the seattle area , so i think bt17r is correct that the toyotas coming to the northwest are handled via trucks ( probably safer and quicker anyways LOL)

there have been a lot of rock rails on ebay , if you cant wait and want factory ones.
