Lift Kit Gas Mileage

Lift Kit Gas Mileage
Any thoughts on howm much my gas mileage will change once I install a 2.5" lift kit and 285s on my 99 limited? I am still deciding between the Sonoran Steel set up and the Wheelers Offroad kit consisting mostly of OME components. I currently get about 18 mpg on the highway stock. I'm about to be driving back and forth between Austin and Dallas a lot, so I don't want to lift it if it is going to lower the gas mileage a great deal.
Thanks in advance!

I guess it makes sense though. More wind resistance...

1 mpg per inch of lift. i've got a fabtech lift (roughly 3 inches of lift) on 265 MTs with a manual trans. I drive like a grandma (never over 2k rpm in city, 73 mph max on hwy) and get 21 mpg. should get better after a seafoam treatment and deckplate or airraid mod.

depends on you gear ratios too. for example, i have 4.10 gr and have 32s. id say i've lost about 1 mpg because of it.
for you, id expect a loss of 2mpg. significant? well that all depends on you and your ability to afford that loss in mpg.

uber,
im having a hard time believing your numbers...unless you got a strong tailwind always behind you
how are you calculating this?

i think tires make a much larger difference than the lift. mine was the same before and after the lift, before the larger tires. and now it is close but not as good, i think part of it has to do wth the recent swich from MTBE reformulated gas to Ethenol reformulaterd gas. so i havent had anough time to get the car used to it ect... MTBE sucks btw, destrys the envoronment. im glad its gone. car runs better too.
