Hello,

I am having an issue with the A/T Oil Temp dummy light coming on. This is the first glitch with the install of this kit and was wondering if anybody could help. Upon start up, the A/T Oil temp light comes on immediatley. However, when I rev the engine in park up to about 3000 rpms, the light turns off. As soon as it gets back down to idle though, the light comes back on. This just began today. I have no tranny leaks and the original and aftermarket tranny coolers were not tampered with at all during the install. Anybody have any ideas? We have already checked all the grounds and lines to-from the coolers.

 

Greedy----Just for kicks, hook up a code reader to the OBDII port and see if there are any stored codes. You might have a code(s) for the ATF temp sensor without it setting off a CEL. FSM says this about ATF temp sensor codes:

This info is from the 2003 Tacoma manual but it should be relevant to your 99 runner.

 

Thanks! Actually, Ricky at speed factory found the same info this morning at like 2am. Turns out the MAF, TPS and A/T Oil Sensor all share a common ground. He thinks that when he moved the MAF to the charge piping, it may have grounded out somewhere. Hopefully he can figure it out so we can get to the dyno!! (and i can get my truck back :-)

 

You might check for loose grounds as well such as the big ground that was attached to the drivers side of the supercharger. More than once I have worked on people's truck that had weird symptoms that turned out to be disconnected or loose grounds.

 

That's exactly what it turned out to be!! Good call. Grounded that big one on the intake and everything works perfect. Time to tune and see what this thing can do. Thanks again!!
