I hear people complaining about the bumpers, but don't they have metal underneath the plastic? They have to meet federal safety right?

most are backed with stryofoam or some other "energy absobing material"

plastic is designed to "pop back out" in 5mph or less bump, after that it deforms and crushes the "eam" underneeth.

hit it hard enough and youll crush everything and start bending the frame/sub frame that the plastic is connected to.

If it's all plastic, then how does the hitch hold the toungue weight in the rear when connecting a trailer, or a winch up front?
