I broke an end link on my front sway bar the other day and the clunking is starting to annoy me, so I was thinking about disconnects. I did some searching on here to see what's available.

It appears the FROR are the only ones that don't require tools to disconnect. I'm lazy, so this is important. LOL

Anyone have discos on their second gen - how do you like them? Do they really increase the articulation and off-road capability?

Anyone make them for the rear?

 

Roger Brown also makes them... I did a search for the rears a while back and found some people who made their own but nothing being sold. I am sure if you wanted it that bad you could have Roger, or Brian make them.

I dont remember which ones I got, think NWOR...hate them(NWOR that is)...anyhow...I had a 95 runner and the sway bar links had the 90 turn in them. So I went to the junk yard and got a swaybar form a early 90's runner that has the p/u mounts. Mounted it upside down, and put 4" discos on it....works great...not tools needed.

I too would be interested in a group buy... as long as they still need "powdercoated."

 

just take them off ....go wheel. you might not want to put them back on ....I got used to it.

While on squeak/rattle patrol duty recently (which is really rare with this truck) I removed my swaybar to see if it was the squeak culprit. It wasn't. But, I also noticed very minimal difference in driving characteristics. The most noticeable difference is a high speed turn on a freeway interchange. The difference is, like I said, noticeable. But, it's not a problem for the way I drive this truck currently. I'm leaving my bar off for now. 'Course, when I put it back on I think I'll go with Brian's SB disconnects.

The lack of much of a difference in driving characteristics with the bar off may have something to do with 16 year old bushings.

 

I'm interested in a group buy price too. Would be nice to have for whenever i find another 2nd gen that i like.

The nut you CAN'T see is the bottom nut in this picture of them installed, which is the top nut in the picture of them just sitting there on the website.

You take the bottom nut off that you can't see in this pic and pull the pin and remove the disco...all except for that stud...it stays in the swaybar.

 

The pin placement is also WRONG in that picture. Instead of being vertical it should be more at a 45 degree angle from vertical towards you. As it is now so it works correctly.

T has my prototype 2nd gen swaybar discos. Everyone kept saying they wanted some, so he let me borrow his rig and I fabbed up some. T's are the only set in existence thus far and other than playing with the quick release pin placement, I think they have been worry free and performed flawlessly for several months now.

Anything to add T?
