We'll I'm moving to college in 3 months and its time to sell the 4runner :cry: . First off I really want to thank everyone here for their help over the years, I'd still be driving my stock '89 if it wasn't for all your support. Anyways I really need the money to pay for the tuition, housing and whatnot and I was wondering what I should ask for my rig.

Heres what i have: 1999 4runner sr5 4wd, 93k miles, leather, NO locker, SAW front suspention, LC rear w/OME n86 shocks, Sonoran steel Diff drop, panhard drop and shackle hangers, Speedhut gauges, led dash conversion, IPF headlights, 305/70/16 BFG AT's on Wheelers Black Aluminum rims, remote start, magnaflow true dual exhaust and color matched bumpers grill and flares.

I know I'm going to regret selling it once its gone, but it seems like its the only way I can afford college. Ill be back in a couple of years with a FJC hopefully Thanks again and any imput you have is greatly appreciated.

so lets talk financials here:

1) do you own this vehicle? and if so, how much do you expect to get for it?
2) what is your college tuition per year (books, housing etc)?
3) do you think #1 will pay for 4 years of #2?

personally, i dont think selling your 99 will be the answer to the problem. if you can afford to take a loan or apply for grants to help defray your school costs, i would do that. Also, lots of people i personally know have done the JC route for the first two years to get their GEDs out of the way at considerably less cost than going to a 4 year.

finally, by selling the 999, will you will be car-less? or will you be driving the 89? and is that 89 reliable? or will it cause you crazy maintenance bills in the future?

All great points by Bob but unless you find another enthusiast, you will not get much more than KBB or edmunds.com. It's best to part it out if you're serious about getting rid of it and you may make 50 cents on every dollar you've spent modding...

 

From a buyers point of view, and considering if I was in the market. (please do not my $$ as a insult)....your rig is tastefully modified by the way. i'd offer you $13,500 or $14,000...yota's are helluva nice vehicles, and to be quite honest with you they are hard to find around my area.. if its 4wd then +++

 

yea financially its the only way to go bob, I have a annual tuition of about $3,500 and housing costs of about $6,500. I will be living on campus for atleast the first year and will have no use for a car, it will just be sitting at my parents house, continuing to loose value. I do own the vehicle and have it payed for in full. I was hoping to get around $12,000 for my vehicle. Does this sound like a accurate estimate?

 

That sounds reasonable, but it truly depends on the area. How much are 99's going for in your area?

If you are going to sell, I'd agree with Bob, put it back to stock and sell the aftermarket parts seperate. If you sell the truck as is, plan on less than $0.25 on the dollar (general open market value) for your aftermarket stuff. It seems to me it would definately be worth the time to part out.

 

$12k is reasonable and maybe even good for an enthusiast. You'd have a hard time selling that truck to a soccer mom though in its present condition.

 

Drive it out to Denver and sell it for 15k

 

No kidding, you could sell it for $13k or more easily in this area. If it were stock, you might be able to sell if for more actually. There is a much higher demand for a stock vehicle than for modded ones in this area.

Edit: personally, I would put it on ebay with a buy it now of $13-14k, and see what you get.
