$3,000 to paint the roof body color

I toyed with the idea of making a monotone FJ. No longer. Admittedly I went to the best body shop around, but the quote was way more than expected. Apparently the rack and gasket removal and masking is labor intensive = $. So, Corey, if you're thinking of making an all-white FJ, fuggetaboutit and learn to love the Mini-Cooper look. Painting the body to match the roof would be even more painful. Starting to like the two-tone more...

Wow, 3 grand to paint the roof. So if the body was more, 8 grand for paint? At least parts will be plentiful in a few years as insurance adjusters will total these vehicles with a minimum of damage it seems.

That is ridiculous, don't give up on it. That is about 4X too much. I had my whold truck painted dupont stage 3 paint and it only cost 700.00. If you want to save some money.....take all the stuff off that you can, and mask off as much as you can. WHen I got to the paint shop, I removed my rear mirrors, tail lights, wipers, squirters, etc. etc.

I would expect to pay 3- 600 for just the roof. Definitely no more than 1000.00. Keep looking and don't give up. The fruit will be worth the labor.

That can't be right, I got my whole rig, roof and all painted, and new bumpers, trim and end caps for 3K. Maybe its your location but thats way to steep...then again, I am friends with the owner, but still....

That's ridiculous, they were only gonna charge me $800 for my roof when I got keyed...take it somewhere else for sure.

I heard rumors of a "Moab Edition" fixed up by TRD.
