Bob, you gonna do this next weekend
http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=86889
Reading there they used the A Trak option instead of the locker to go up that huge rock.
It seems the new FJ faired better too than the older rigs on some of the stuff.
Who says IFS sucks?

The vids are up, sweeeeeeeeet

The one called Sheps FJ shows him taking a few lines, then getting through.
This new beast rock crawls just find & dandy with IFS.
The first line was bad, so they redid it.
Still watching the vids here at work, DL'd them all in that thread.
Another good one is called robbie1, I think that was the zip file in the reply to JadeRunner.

Whew, those vids show some impressive technical driving skills and sick equipment. Very nice.
A couple of thoughts, please comment. In the first video it clearly shows the 4R rear sidestepping while boulder climbing. Is that how a locker can affect the proper line? And the FJ wheelspin was ridiculous. It either doesn't have A-TRAC, or had it disengaged. I'm really starting to see not only a traction benefit to A-TRAC, but also a safety benefit in being able to maintain proper line in the tight climbing stuff.
Thanks to Rising Sun club members for posting those vids. Very instructive and inspiring.

So we had the FJ Cruiser Team join us on the Rising Sun club run that I led last Sat. They were letting everyone drive them. I told them I would wait to drive it, till we got to the Whale Rock obstacle. It's a bit of a low rider in stock form and I promptly tore the skid from the two rear bolts as I was positioning myself for the rock. Keep in mind, stock rigs don't usually run this trail, so it did well.
They gave us all sweet FJ Cruiser lethermans and took pictures and video for there own trip report to be posted soon on there web site. They are heading to Moab next for the EJS and Cruise Moab. Our club member Robbie was hired on as a driver on the Central team. There are three teams with 8 rigs total. Only two are 6 speeds. They use the power brake method on the auto's to tackle the big obstacles. The stock 6 speed gearing would be more problematic when they need to crawl.
You guys are going to love your FJ Cruisers. As you know, it just need's a lift, skids and an ARB or something. The traction control works better than were used to on the 2001 and newer runners. But, it still won't kick in when stuck in the middle of an obstacle, but that's no surprise.

The FJ Drivers try to use wheel spin to get the ATrac to kick in. It was on, but not really kicking in, in that particular situation. It still seems to kick in better than the previous generation ATrac. I understand there are some technology differences, but I didn't get in on that conversation.

I think Revtech's lift is 3" too.
I might go for that, but stay with 32" tires.
