7MGE I found - opinions please
Alright, I really hate to start another "should I do this motor swap" thread. I know the basics of what is involved with the swap. Here is an ad for a 7MGE I found for sale locally:
This is an engine out of a 1990 Toyota Supra, never modified.
It has 103,451 miles on it and has been well taken care of. It has never missed an oil change and works perfectly. I have all records for this engine… it uses no oil, does not smoke.
It comes fully dressed, with all brackets, manifolds and accessories. Also has wiring harness and Engine Control Computer. We will be happy to install this engine at a fair price and give a warranty on it.
I called the guy and he said they have removed the motor from a Supra in order to swap in another. He guaranteed me that it was in excellent shape. He told me he would give me the computer too.
The question is- is $450 a good price for this motor with this mileage? If so, I will buy it and keep it until my 3VZ needs major work, then take my time and swap it in. Or, resell it to someone who needs it for a swap.

It is a really good price. Usually that would run at least $1000. Since you are looking to take your time to put it in, I would suggest doing a bit of a rebuild on it as 7M's have a headgasket problem due to low torque specs on the headbolts. Replace the headgasket and use ARP studs and you shouldn't have any problems later with a blown head gasket.

I went and looked at it today- they said they are doing some sort of twin turbo conversion on the Supra, so they yanked the 7MGE out. Both the motor and car looked great, and the shop said they would even put it in another Supra and give a warranty.
Anyway, should I purchase it, I would plan on taking a very long time on going through the motor, doing reseach, and gathering needed parts for the swap.
Thanks for the opinion, the only motors I have been on the market for are pre-1970s Mopar, so I wasn't sure of what kind of deal this was.
