FJ80 Shocks and Sonoran Steel Lower Control Arm Flex Pics
Installed these this week and took it out for a little flex action. These are stock FJ80 rear shocks, Sonoran Steel Lower Control Arms with Rubicon Express joints, OME 891 coils with 1.5" Daystar spacer and another 0.5" from top part of factory cone, Sonoran Steel lowered Daystar bumpstops, Sonoran Steel Panhard Drop bar. I also have the swaybar connected, 1" bodylift and 285 tires. The front was with the swaybar connected, OME 882's, one trim packer, blah, blah-this was more of a rear flex test since we all know the front doesn't really do much anyway.

Steve has all of the shock specs on his website. We discussed using the OME LC shocks, but they are too long.

Dang Brett, thats pretty flexy, looking good I might consider this later after I work on my front setup and get it flexing a little more. So you finally did the body lift huh? how was that with the 5speed? Any problems?

Nope, no problem at all. The Wabbit helped and it went on with no fuss at all-it sure helps clear the tires on the front.

LOL... I never "complained", but just made some remarks about how tall it was in person.
man, word sure does travel fast...
oh, and i gotta get the IFS built "right" and wheel it harder before i can do a SAS. that way i'll be more internet cool...
a swap just may be in my future, but i don't know if it will be on the 99. maybe on a 96 SR5 that i pick up for cheap and add a crawler to. now THAT's a nice little box!

Awsome work Bret, I think when I replace my rear shocks I'll be getting stock FJ80s then. Can't wait to see it perform in May, and we'll make sure to get pics. of you this time.

slickrock would be a breeze w/ a front locker - as i'll show you in may!
you don't need a crawler as much here in the SE. it would be nice to have on a stick for controlling speed/clutch, but not necessary on an auto. it's better suited for out west where the rocks are dry and fairly grippy. if you can't get traction, then super slow speeds aren't going to help.
