1989 Toyota pickup "HELP"

I have a 1989 toyota pickup and im having a problem with the speedometer cable it broke once snapped so I took it to my mechanic and had them replace it well its been about a month and 1/2 and it broke again and he said its right up behind where it goes in that its snapping (at least thats what I got out of it). He is gonna see if he can find anything out but I thought I would do some checkin on my own. So if anyone knows what could be causing this PLEASE help me! lol my E-mail is Dookie_180@msn.com

does it appear to be getting caught on something? does it pull out of the assembly (hence "broken"), or does it literally snap in half?

the mechanic could be not fixing it right so u would have to pay more money. if it is put in the transmission right it would not snap. i have a 86 and i have not had a problem like that and i have had the trans out 4 times to replace the clutch.
