Pickup impresses Jeep owning roommates
Well finally went out on an little offroading excursion with my roommate and another friend of ours...my roommate just bought a 2005 Jeep Rubicon with every option and then the other friend of ours has a 93 grand cherokee with a rubicon express kit, 33x12.50s, and a bunch of other goodies... Didnt do anything major, just a lot of washouts and some fairly steep hillclimbs in really wet, slippery conditions. It was their first time to ever go out with me when I brought the toyota out.
Needless to say they were quite impressed that the yota was going places that the jeep needed to lock in the axles to go. They honestly were having a hard time believing it seeing as how much he just paid for the rubicon. I was the first too try all the climbs and washouts and managed to make it up and down them with little or no problems, and only minor wheelspin going up. When the rubicon tried going up the first steep washout/climb it slipped and slid back down and then had to lock in the axles to get up it. The yota climbed right up like it wasnt even there...from what they saw only one wheel even started to slip.
the rubicon was wearing the standard wrangler mt/r rubber, while i had my firestone destination mt's on...and yes im stilling running my stock sized 31x10.50s without my lift...ive been waiting on my school refund check to get in to actually install my new rims/tires/5" superlift...now i think i may add a locker at the same time, and possibly a front lsd...but yeah i was quite proud of the toyota after impressing the long time jeep fanatics, i think my roommate felt sort of bad considering i gave 6000 cash for my truck in mint condition with every option and he gave right at 30k...lol will try and post some pics soon..
