I have a '98 4Runner sport and i am about to install my 3" Cornfed spacer lift. The wheels and tires waiting to go on are 305/70/R17 Goodyear MTRs with Procomp 17" chrome wheels. Anyone have this setup? Pics? Comments? And i'm sure there is going to be some trimming of the fenders.

Delaware: make sure you install a diff. drop spacer kit that is sold by cornfed or another manufacturer.

Consensus around here is that 3" of suspension lift is pushing the limits of the stock suspension including CV joints...

You should be okay with a 1" diff drop spacer though...

 

305/70/17 is 34"x12"... Check out the Sonoran Steel site for Steves info on how he fit 35's on his rig... 3" spacers aren't going to cut it.

 

The diff. drop came with my 3" Cornfed kit. I think i'm just going to order a 1" body lift. On a budget.

 

You might as well do a 2" bodylift as the work required for the 1" and 2" is the same and the difference in price is like $20 or so.

 

Are the modifications the same for the 2" and the 1"? Did you have any problems putting yours on?

 

They are pretty much the same. I had a little problem but it was because I loosened the steering shaft, went to eat, then came back and lifted the body forgetting that I didn't take the bolt off the steering shaft.

 

Beware of the 3inch spacer on the fronts... Fink would be able to share his headaches with his leaky CV's.

From what I've read 2.5 inch front spacers and below seem to be OK with the use of a diff. drop kit.

I agree with Grimpy... go with the 2 inch BL. 4crawler has excellent write ups concerning his Body lifts.... I did the 2 inch and it was pretty easy with very small modifications.

 

I already have the 3" Cornfed kit sitting in my garage with the 305/70/17s and wheels already! Oh well. I just ordered my R.B. 1" body lift. Sometimes you just gotta say f--k it. =/

I have a 3 in. up front and tore a CV Boot. Be sure to keep a check on them because bad things can happen if you don't.

 

I've been running a 3" spacer lift with a 1.5" diff drop almost a year now, have done some pretty moderate wheeling, and my cv's are doing fine. You just need to keep an eye on them. Some guys have bad luck, some are fine. They're gonna stiffen up your front end a little, but it's not horrible. I'd go with the 2" bl if I were you....

Jim, I did the same thing. It worked fine for me.

I just used some washers that were the same size as my diff drop spacers and it worked... you also need to get some longer bolts.

People say that it puts more stress on the rear allen-bolt mount, but... ?

 

I know when I owned my 99 Tacoma ... I went with the 3" Cornfed and my CV's weren't that bad as long as I was staying on the road. I had the 1" diff drop and everything to go along with it. I know looking back I would have gone with a 2-2.25 and a 1" body ... I would have been much happier.

 

Yeah, your stock skid plate (if you're still using it) will need some "creative remounting", but it does work great.

 

OK i'm getting pissed at myself for procrastinating. The body lift is going on Saturday and the spacers on Sunday! I'm the worst procrastinator.
