Cruise Control Question...Auto Tranny Truck
My '90 SR5 4x4 is equipped with a cruise control. I am pretty sure I have the actuator cable up to the throttle body adjusted correctly. The speed sets and maintains that speed fine. But I have a problem.
Here is the scenario:
Travel down the road with the cruise set @ 70 MPH. It gets a slight hill put in front of it and it compensates by opening the throttle as expected. It will kick down into 3rd (from O/D) and will remain in 3rd gear even after the road levels back out. It will maintain the set speed of 70 MPH but will not shift back into O/D until I bump the "SET" or "RESUME" button and then it will carry on in O/D at the set speed.
Is this normal?
Is there an adjustment procedure for this thing?
Thanx,
Bud

Thanx for the link, Marc!
I will try that...can't hurt.
Everything else is in great shape and the K/D cable to the trans is right at the .040" adjustment point as explained in the FSM.
I just cannot find any cruise control adjustment procedure anywhere
