I bought a w56 HD tranny from marlin about 2 months back for my 86 4runner. I also put in a new clutch kit and clutch slave and master cylinder also from marlin. Ever since I've had it 2nd gear has been hard to go into or it wont at all and I'll have to double clutch it. Every gear is pretty notchy. I haven't been able to get ahold of him yet, and I took it to a mechanic in town and he thinks it's my synchros. I was hoping it wasn't but it keeps getting worse and I've only had for 6,000 miles. Does this problem sound like synchros to anyone or has anyone had any similar problems like this and how easy is marlin to deal with as I live 2,000 miles away?

 

My truck has always had that problem, but it gets 100x easier once it's warmed up. I'm pretty sure it's just a old toyota truck thing. On the other hand, if it stays reluctant to go into gear, then it probably is your synchros.
