Feb. 4th, Smugglar's Cave (San Diego)
We will be making a day trip to Smugglar's Cave area in the In-Ko-Pah mountains, near the San Diego and Imperial County border.
This is not a "hard" run.
This will be on Sat, Feb. 4th. It is planned for a day trip. Exploration and maybe leaving the vehicles for a short time. We will not leave the cars unattended for more than a few minutes because we will be very close to the border.
We meet at the Carl's Jr. in Alpine at 7am. Exit Tavern Rd. and go south. It's in the first shopping center on the east side of the street.
Look for the Silver Land Cruiser.
Bring your lunch. There is gas across the street too, so we should fill up in Alpine.
I'll have FRS and CB. Have one or both please. I'll have some maps too.
This is for 4x4 vehicles, in good working order, with front and rear recovery points.
So far I have:
Calamaridog (Bryan - UZJ100)
+d (David - Grand Cherokee)
Boston Mangler (Kevin - FJZ80)
wifesaysimadumbass (85 4runner)
Eric
Mark
Deathrunner
Phalanx
Beerdrinker

I don't think anyone is bringing kids but I don't see a problem with that. It is possible I will bring mine
I was thinking south side first and north side if time permits.

it's basically a short trip into the valley and a couple of miles of loops most not too rough... the other side of i-8 has some tougher trails..... but for a nice scenic run with a hike and maybe some boulder climbing the valley is a rad place

I'm hoping we don't have more than 10 trucks total so things don't slow down too much. I added you guys to my list.
Looks like we will look around South of the 8 for a while then try one of the harder trails on the North side of the 8. This should be fairly easy stuff mostly.

Marc and I thought we'd have at least 6 trucks at one point of the last Corral Canyon trip planning and it ended up being just the 2 of us. People always have to drop for one reason or another. I hope I am not one of them for this trip.

Um, I'm doing this trip in a very large minivan
If your friend has 4wd he will be fine. He also will not be the only Heep in attendance, there will be a Grand Cherokee also.
And we can always park a vehicle or two if things get too nasty, but I don't see it being a problem.
