Help with 22re - running really rough

95 4runner, 22RE

Just had engine rebuilt.

Got it running well, after replacing cracked fuel lines, setting timing etc etc...

Now after 400kms, something happened. I started up after a short trip and my truck started running like shiet.

- standing idle fell to 400rpm from 900rpm
- no power, could barely get to work this morning
- very loud burp in exhaust (sounds like a motorbike)

did a quick check of wires and cap, nothing seemed to be loose

This was an instant change ie running well when I shut off, runs like crap when restarted 15 minutes later

Any ideas?

Thanks

Explain this burp in the exhaust a little better. Could it be a miss? whens the last time you changed your plugs and wires?

Did the timing slip? If the hold down was not tightened enough, it could rotate a bit leading to the symptoms you describe. Easy to check anyways...

Thanks guys...

It was missing. Somehow one od the wires got cut in half. Thionk a rock or ice chip flew up through the engine bay as no skid plate right now.

Back to running like normal... well sort of
