This is how you promote it:
We are in the planning stages for a special event but want to get the word out now you can make plans.
When: December 30, 2005 - January 1, 2006
Where: Joshua Tree
General info: We are heading out to Joshua Tree to blow out the end of 2005 in the desert. This is an anything goes New Years Get-together somewhere where we can be as loud and fun as we want. Bring it all!!! Trucks, Cars, Bikes, Quads, Toys, Boats (how's that even possible?), RC cars, kids, dogs.... whatever! We only ask that you be safe with what you are doing, making sure everyone has a good mellow time.
Information Updates: As more information is available, it will be posted in this thread and on this web page:
http://tacoma.obriens.net/images/Tri...05NewYearsEve/
Camping: We're planning on using the same area with which most TTORA members are familiar. For non-TTORA members and first timers, the exact location is on the web page above and we will follow-up with signs pointing you in the right direction as soon as you leave the pavement. If this site is taken, we will make sure the signs point to any alternative location we find.
Carne Fest!: What is J-Tree without a huge Carne Asada cook out? We'll work out the details very soon but plan on eating big!
Trails: We are still working on these but there is always plenty in the area for all types of trucks, from stock Pre-Runners to Solid Axel folks who want to try their hand at the now legendary Carnage Asada Canyon! We're also considering the addition of a run into Joshua Tree National Park. However, you folks are all free to do as you like and just have fun! This will be a free-for all. Feel like running a trail? Corral a group and head out in your truck, or on your bikes or quads. Joshua Tree has a plenty of beautiful sections to explore.
Must Have: For trucks, you need to have a full size spare, and the tools to change it. A 1st aid kit and fire extinguisher are also good to have in your vehicle. An installed CB or handheld CB radio is very nice to have. Bring plenty of water and food, the desert is not a joke! Be sure you have a full tank of gas. There is a gas station within 10 miles of camp. For bikes, full riding gear and at least 1 1st aid kit.
Suggested Personal Gear: Bring warm clothes as it can get a bit brisk in the desert this time of year but at night we'll have a nice warm fire so don't worry. Just be prepared.
What Should You do Now? First mark you calendar and plan to be at this event! Second, start saving up and gathering up wood! Joshua Tree events usually include a fantastic fire and we need a lot of wood!!!
Trail Leaders and Volunteers: Kyle (Hebby), Dennis (DennisDawg), Jason (Demello) and Jeff (Munssey).
More details will follow including schedules and more!!!
BE THERE!!
