So the shop confirmed my worst fears last night... the HG is goin, goin, gone and the 4runner is going to die soon. Combustion contamination in the cooling system, no coolant in oil, though. The motor only has about 60K on it (I think - bought from ex-girlfriend's dad) and ran great before I towed a camper all summer, then drove it down from CO. So, I am seriously considering getting the HG's replaced. (Or letting it go, but I really love the truck)
Does anyone know anyone in Dallas that is experienced (1993 3.0) with the infamous HG work?? $$?? I would attempt it myself, but have limited resources.
Anyone want to help a poor kid replace the top end of his dying motor?? I am willing to do all the grunt work, I just get a little reluctant with some of the tech stuff like putting it back together!!

 

Was the head gasket recall done? If the damage resulted from a known problem, Toyota should pick up the bill for the repair

 

Has been serviced per the VO6 campaign.

 

Second blown HG at only 60K? Wow. You better check carefully for warpage (block and heads), cause something's a little fishy there.
