2ng gen rear window defrost

OK, I did a search and apparently this is a pretty common problem, but I think the cause on mine is a little more uncommon. No simple broken/unplugged wires here...

Are these two wires supposed to clip to the window? I think one of the clips is in the plug, but the other is missing. Are they supposed to go on the white patch?

Anyone have pix of what it's supposed to look like?

Can I cut the plugs off and solder the wires straight to the window? Other recommendations?

THANKS!

If I remember correctly there should be 2 wires atached to that white patch. It's been a while since I had problems with my defroster. There's should be 2 male connectors attached to the window, and the wires clip on them.

I don't see any problem with soldering the wires directly to the window.

i did just that last year. there must be something else between the switch and the glass as mine doesnt work. currently, im using a 120v car heater on a timer to keep the windows clear during the cold weather. it stays warm enough inside until the heater starts pumping out warm air.

Anyone successfully attach the wires to the window and get the defroster working?

How about pix of a working setup?

THANKS!
